BRENG PARTICIPATION AT NASA SCIENCE DAYS 2019 Published: 04/26/2019 In the second half of 2018, BRENG received the invitation to participate in two regions of Brazil, NASA Science Days Brazil 2019, through the courtesy offered by Brazil- Florida Chamber of Commerce - BFCC in partnership with NASA. BRENG elected to participate in the regions of São Paulo on March 19 and 20, 2019 and in São José dos Campos on April 05 and 06, 2019.
On March 19 and 20, 2019, BRENG participated in SCIENCE DAYS 2019, held at Shopping Eldorado in the city of São Paulo. BRENG can exhibit its corporate portfolio, bringing to the public its philosophy of using aerospace technology for the benefit of society, such as the Vacuum Sanitary System Projects - AeroEcológico and the Breakdown Engine. In addition, two projects to access the Cubesats Space were presented, being the Lansat Project and the Vector Project. Also presented were trainings in the area of engineering and technical capabilities of the company.
Science Days is an event inspired by Florida Space Day and aims to sensitize young people, parents and educators about the importance of science and technology through science education. During the meeting, interactive workshops, exhibitions and lectures were held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the man's arrival on the moon aboard the Apollo 11 space mission. For those interested in history and space exploration, Science Days also brought NASA exhibit with items used in expeditions of the space agency, as well as prizes, documents and historical photos exhibited for the Brazilian public for the first time. Among the articles featured are the STS-14 mission shuttle flight manual, panels of the STS-63 shuttle mission used to assemble the prototype of the chatter robot at the International Space Station (ISS), the electrocardiogram used at Apollo 11, among other articles.
On April 05 and 06, 2019, it was the turn of São José dos Campos - SP to host its third edition of NASA Science Days, involving institutional support from the public power adding the City Hall and several secretaries. There were more than 15 thousand participants in the two days and receiving a number of almost 100 public schools in several cities, such as. . The third edition of the Science Days conducted by the Alpha Lumen Institute had media coverage of TV Vanguarda, Band Vale, Record Vale, Canção Nova TV and Rádio Jovem Pan.
BRENG assisted with sponsorship, at the event in São José dos Campos, to make buses available for the free transportation of students from the nearly 100 public schools that visited the event, thus allowing elementary and middle school students to have contact with a world full of science and technology. During the event, BRENG exhibited its entire portfolio of activities and projects, as well as demonstrations of additive manufacturing capacity (3D printing), facial scanning as a technological resource applied to new educational methods and interaction of the public with its professionals. BRENG also, during the event, declared its Sustainable Development Objectives (ODS), as established in the United Nations Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development. In this context, BRENG is aligned with the ODS: 1 - Eradication of Poverty, 4 - Quality Education, 6 - Clean Water and Sanitation, 9 - Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities and 17 - Partnerships in Prol Goals.
In order to foster entrepreneurship and stimulate industry initiatives, Science Days has also provided an area for innovative projects for students from schools and universities addressing topics such as robotics and technology. For the Executive Director of Science, Technology and Innovation of BRENG, Dr. Felipe Jean, the event exceeded expectations, where BRENG can surprise an audience of more than 30 thousand people (adding São Paulo and São José dos Campos) with its projects innovators, and by whom they did not even know that Brazil was capable of accomplishing them. Also, seeing the enthusiastic eyes of our children and teenagers, is priceless, because they are the ones who will lead the Brazil of the future!
Based on Space Day in Florida, NASA Science Days is an event held primarily for the purpose of opening educational opportunities to increase the perspective on the areas of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) knowledge. aimed at creating greater competition for new technologies, drawing on ideas for better development in the world of work, education and social environment. Science Days is an opportunity to educate and educate thousands of young students and educators about the significance of STEM and the aerospace industry and its impact on the global economy. The aerospace industry represents billions of dollars in annual economic impact and employs millions of people around the world.
From March 12 to April 7, 2019, Science Days was presented in various regions of Brazil. Private companies, local, state and federal agencies and academic institutions will participate in this unique and annual event, designed to educate our future leaders on the challenges and opportunities that Brazil has in this dynamic moment of the space program.
